DURBAN – While most music fests are a fair drive from Drubz, for once, Zakifo brought the contagious festival atmosphere to the Durban doorstep.
A big grassy field opposite Suncoast Casino was laid with three stages, a beer garden and several delectable food stalls. Zakifo was bursting at the seams with good music and good cheer. “Durban needs to have more of these, it feels like I’m at a full-on festival,” said Benjamin Gukelberger. The selection of bands was well appreciated by New Zealander, Anne Chan who said, “It’s really good that they are promoting African music.” And the jovial atmosphere was the winning ticket for Jack Santos from the US who summed it up with “I’m lovin’ it.”
