PINETOWN – Two men were killed and two men were injured in a horror crash on the M13 Durban bound on July, 27 just after 4:30 pm.
Rescue Care Paramedics and other emergency services arrived on the scene and found that two vehicles had collided in a rear end crash. The Fire department was immediately called to rescue two occupants trapped in the wreckage. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the two entrapped patients while the Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to free the men who has sustained severe injuries. Once freed from the wreckage both men were being stabilised when they went into cardiac arrest and passed away on the scene.
A further two men from the second vehicle had also sustained moderate injuries and were also stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however the necessary authorities were on scene and will be investigating further.
In a separate incident, 7 people have been injured including 6 children after a collision on Richmond Road in Marianhill Pinetown this morning around 7am.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that two vehicles had collided on the busy roadway. One of the vehicles alledgedly broke down before the other vehicle collided into it. Paramedics found 7 people injured on the scene including 6 children who sustained minor injuries and 1 female who sustained serious injuries. All of the injured were stabilized on scene before being transported by ambulance to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.
SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
