ISIPINGO – The Isipingo SAPS arrested two suspects following a shootout between police and armed robbers. On Saturday 13 August, police received a report of a house robbery with four unknown armed men at the corner of James Avenue and Platt Drive. Police proceeded to the area when suspects fired shots at them on their arrival, cops returned fire, injuring one of them and arresting the other. Two of the criminals fled on foot and police are still searching them. The injured suspect has been taken to hospital for medical attention under police guard. Suspects will be charged for house robbery and attempted murder. They will appear in court soon.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised the swift response by police which led to the apprehension of the suspects. “The suspects who fled will be arrested soon and I am glad that our police officers escaped unscathed,” she said.
