DURBAN NORTH – Three-year old twins and a six-year-old child were burnt in a house fire on the corner of Swapo Rd and Hoylake Drive.
The household domestic worker rushed upstairs to discovered the twins and another child in a room that was on fire in the Durban North home. The domestic worker had been working downstairs in the two-story house when she heard a loud bang upstairs. “The domestic worker sustained minor injuries in an attempt to extinguish the fire,” said spokesperson for KZN SAPS, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.
The twins, a boy and girl, and the third child, as well as the domestic worker were treated for burns, said Mbele. Emergency services were on the scene tending to the injured. “The victims were stabalised on the scene, before being rushed to Netcare uMhlanga Hostpital for further care,” said Kyle Van Reenen of Marshall Security.
SAPS were on the scene investigating the cause of the fire.
