PINETOWN – Durbanites relived the nightmare of the 2013 Fields Hill horror crash as thirteen people were injured when a runaway truck collided with three other vehicles at the intersection of Richmond Road and the M13 in Pinetown around 9 am this morning.
A truck collided with another truck, a taxi, and a car after allegedly losing control while travelling down Field’s Hill towards Richmond Road. Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find one person entrapped and the Jaws of Life were used to free him from the carnage. The man was removed from the vehicle in a stable condition with moderate injuries. A further 12 people who were travelling in the other three vehicles sustained minor to moderate injuries. All patients were stabilised on the scene before being transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is alleged that a truck carrying steel items lost control however all the necessary authorities were on scene and will be investigating further. After the Fields Hill truck accident of 2013 that left 24 dead, this is a narrow escape with 13 injured.
