UPDATE: 01:10- Lennox reported that of the six people dead, three were military officials and three were contractors at the base.
In total 26 people were at the base, when six of them went into a pit of an abandoned building whilst 13 were standing around the entrance,it is alleged that the six that went down the well encountered a substance that emitted highly toxic fumes which they inhaled has a result they collapsed into the large body of water and drowned. The 13 bystanders who also inhaled the fumes were transported to nearby hospitals.

BLUFF – Six people have been declared dead at the Navy base in Bluff, Durban.
Rescue care paramedic on scene Ceron Lennox confirmed that six people are declared dead after a freak accident at the base.
Fire department and emergency personnel are currently on scene.
