UMLAZI – These students could not afford to get their drivers licences so the Umlazi SAPS and local driving schools intervened.
The SAPS together with several driving schools came together in an initiative to provide free learners and drivers tests to underprivileged students in Umlazi.
The joint operation saw students from 6 various schools receiving their learners and drivers tests. Umlazi SAPS in partnership with a local driving school, this was done free of charge for learners who could not afford to get a drivers or learner licence due to financial constraints. The community outreach held at the police station saw learners from different schools in the community who were identified to learn how to drive receiving their drivers licence and learners licence after passing in all respects.
Brigadier Ntulu station commander of Umlazi SAPS, thanked all sponsors who made the project a success, “On behalf of the Umlazi SAPS , I would like to thank all those that contributed to the project and a special thanks to the local driving school that taught these learners free of charge”, she said.
Along the excitement with the Umlazi SAPS, food and groceries parcels where given to the needy by local businesses at the police station.
