DURBAN – The man arrested for smuggling money from South Africa to Dubai on Friday, October 28 at the King Shaka International Airport has appeared in absentia today at the Verulam Magistrates Court.
Sandile Memela, spokesman for the South African Revenue Service (SARS) has reported that the money, R 3.9-million in cash was found in the mans luggage during a routine check at the airport.
SAPS spokesperson Col Thulani Zwane; has confirmed a 25-year-old suspect was arrested at King Shaka Airport and charged in terms of Customs and Excise Act, failing to declare currency.
