BEREA – Yesterday, August 5, members of National Intervention Unit together with a private security company worked tirelessly in Umlazi following leads with regards to suspects wanted for murder.
Their hard work prevailed, when they succeeded in arresting three suspects for murder. Among the arrested suspects was a Metro Police officer.
It is alleged that on Monday, August 1, at approximately 8am, Berea SAPS received a report of murder and proceeded to the scene. The body of Hoosen Dodha who was the manager of Royal Travel in Cowey Road, Berea was found with fatal gunshot wounds to the body.
The business premises was ransacked yet it is still unclear of what was stolen during the robbery It is reported that seven spent 9 mm cartridges were also recovered from the scene.
The suspects aged between 21 and 32 were arrested and will be charged for murder and robbery. They are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 8 August 2016.
KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa commended the partnership between police and the security agency which led to the arrest of the suspects. “These criminals will be subjected to prosecution and we will ensure together with the NPA that a well prepared docket is presented at court,” he said.
