Spain goalkeeper David de Gea is expected to sign a new long-term deal at Manchester United following Thibaut Courtois’ move to Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid last week.
The Spaniard has been repeatedly linked with a move to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu since 2015.
But Courtois’ transfer from fellow-Premier League side Chelsea to join the European champions means United are increasingly optimistic of agreeing a new contract with the 27 year-old.
De Gea’s current deal at Old Trafford expires in June next year with an option to renew by a further season.
The Red Devels signed De Gea from Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £18.9m back in 2011.
