UPDATE: At about 7.45am this morning (Friday, 24 June) a man was shot whilst waiting for assistance after his vehicle broke down on the N2, South before the M7, near Spaghetti Junction.

It was reported that the victim had jumped out of his broken down vehicle and was awaiting road side assistance when he was approached by 2 suspects, who, after shooting him in the back, proceeded to rob him of his cash and cellphone.

Major Thulani Zwane has confirmed that this was an attempted murder and robbery, and that a case has been opened , it seems that this is the second incident this month in the same area, the first being near the M7 Pinetown.

“The SAPS urges the public to take extra precautions when they’re alone in the vehicle and be vigilant during break downs and even whilst waiting assistance , on any road, especially in isolated areas, ” Major Zwane added.
