HILLCREST- The SAPS Hillcrest Task Team have arrested a 41-year-old suspect for house robbery and theft of motor vehicle on Wednesday, July 20, The suspect allegedly sold two vehicles, a Toyota Fortuner and a VW Polo to a businessman and refused to hand in the log books for the vehicles. Police were alerted about the incident and upon investigation, police then discovered that the Fortuner was stolen during an house robbery in Morningside, Durban and the Polo was stolen from Point Road, Durban. The investigating officers for both cases were informed about the arrest and the recovery. Investigations are under way to link the suspect to the house robbery and theft of motor vehicle cases.
He was charged for possession of suspected stolen property and was taken to Hillcrest police station for detention. He will appear at the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court soon.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa applauded police on the arrest. “We encourage the community members to continue to work with police so that we can prevent criminal activities in our province and put criminals behind bars. Members should be aware that buying stolen property is a criminal offence,” he said.
