WENTWORTH – A 33-year-old male was arrested and taken to Wentworth police station for detention after police seized a total of four pistols and 23 live rounds of ammunition from his possession.
On Wednesday,September 7 at about 6:30pm, SAPS Vehicle Integrated Team members received information about a male possessing unlicensed firearms. Police proceeded to the Himalayas Road off ramp where they stopped a vehicle and a search was conducted. The driver was found in possession of two firearms with ammunition and after proceeding to the suspect’s home another two pistols also with ammunition were seized.
Col Thulani Zwane said, “The suspect has been charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as failing to safeguard the firearms in terms of the Firearms Control Act.”
He has appeared at the Wentworth Magistrates’Court.
