At about 11:30 pm, SAPS members were patrolling the area when they noticed a suspicious white VW Polo parked on the side of the road with five occupants inside. The police officers instructed the occupants to exit the vehicle and proceeded to searched them, upon the search two unlicensed 9mm firearms with live rounds of ammunition along with a knife, cellphones and stolen goods were recovered from the suspects.
Initial investigations revealed that the vehicle was stolen at Inchanga during a house robbery. The recovered firearms will be sent for ballistic tests to establish if they were used in any other crime in the province. The arrested suspects will appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrates’ Court soon.
