SOMERSET PARK – Five armed men stormed a home in Cheddar Close shortly after 10 am today.
Marshall Security armed reaction officers responded to the scene to find that five armed men, one carrying a rifle, had broken into the property. The men held up a domestic worker while they ransacked the home for valuables and fled the scene with flat screen televisions, watches and various aftershave colognes. The suspects were reportedly driving a Mercedes Benz as they raced off with the stolen items.
The Durban North Umhlanga Crisis Team was called to counsel the domestic worker who was traumatised by the ordeal. “The domestic worker was assaulted by the men who threatened her in an attempt to ascertain where the safe was kept,” said Captain Raymond Deokaran of the Durban North SAPS.
The scene was later handed over to the SAPS for further investigation and processing although the suspects remain at large.
