Q/A with Shervin Naidoo
*How do you go about performing your daily activities?
When I wake up in the morning, I do my (sermons) and write if I’m led.
*What challenges are you faced with on a daily basis?
I have a very big problem of drooling a lot, my sight and speech as well. It is often hard for people who are not used to my situation.
*What inspires you to continue writing even though you have a speech and brain condition?
Music inspires me to write. Even though my brain is normal I have a challenge with the physical aspect of my body.
*What has been your biggest challenge thus far in your life as well as in your writing?
The biggest challenge I face is getting people to take me seriously.
*Do you have someone to help you with your daily routine and chores?
My mother has always been the one person to take care of me.
*What goals would you want to achieve ?
Like everybody I have a dream of building my own beach house and to have a life partner that will love me for me as to who, how and what I am.
The Journey so far:
My name is Shervin Naidoo. I was born with Athetosis, cerebral palsy on the 12th December 1978. I schooled at the A.M Moolla Spes Nova School, its a special school for cerebral palsy. I completed my standard eight but matriculated through correspondence. I then worked at a disabled organisation for seven years, after leaving the organisation I then completed my computer literacy.
My focus in life was to create content for people as such I started penning a movie script and started writing poetry in 2010 after listening to music such as WESTLIFE. Today I stand proud with 550 poems in my repertoire and 20 officially published poems.
