PINETOWN – On September, 5, a father was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment for the rape of his young daughter.
The victim was 7-years-old when her biological father raped her in 2013. The child was playing outside with her friends when she was called inside by her father who raped her in their home at KwaBhontshisi Informal Settlement near Wyebank.
The young girl, then reported the incident to her mother and her aunt. The case of rape was opened at Pinetown police station and the docket was transferred to Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for investigation. The accused man, aged 44, was arrested after investigations found him to be guilty. Col Thulani Zwane said, “the man appeared several times in court before he was sentenced this week.”
Pinetown Regional Court convicted and sentenced the accused to 18 years imprisonment for rape.
