WESTVILLE – A man in his forties had been killed in a shooting incident in Westville, Durban on Saturday November 5.
It is alleged that the man was shot point blank in front of his family, as he was arriving into the driveway of his home on Chearsley Road just after 8pm with his wife and two children, when they were accosted by the suspects. Rescue Care Paramedics were called to the scene, on arrival Advanced Life Support Paramedics found the patient in a severe condition having sustained a single gunshot wound.
Paramedics worked on the critically injured man but he went into cardiac arrest and resuscitation efforts were futile. The man was declared dead on the scene. At this stage, the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown however, Westville SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
Col Thulani Zwane Provincial spokesperson of the SAPS, said: “It is believed that the suspects were attempting to rob the residence however, they were disturbed and in an attempt to flee they fired a shot at the man. A case has been opened for further investigation.”
