UMHLANGA – At around 12.30pm on Thursday, a gang of armed robbers stormed into a Prestondale home in uMhlanga.
A woman and her son have been left traumatised with the incident after about five or six suspects held up the family and made them lie on the floor before ransacking the house. The woman who was at home at the time was allegedly assaulted and forced on the floor and the son who was entering the driveway at the time was forced inside the house.
The suspects tore the safe out off the wall stealing 5 firearms guns, cell phones, jewellery and an undisclosed amount of cash and drove off in an unknown direction.
Captain Raymond Deokaran of the Durban North SAPS confirmed that six suspects entered the home forcing the mother, son and two children to lie on the floor whilst robbing them of firearms, valuables and cash.
“The suspects managed to disarm the alarm system as well has the CCTV, the vehicle is a Ford ST and registration is known to police, said Cpt Deokaran.
A case of house robbery has been opened and police are following leads, he added.
