Domestic worker and 2-year-old held at gunpoint in Parkhill home

DURBAN – At about 10am on Wednesday November 16, armed suspects with pistols forced entry into  the premises of a home in Park hill, Durban by derailing the driveway gate.

Marshall Security received a call through a local neighborhood watch about an alleged house robbery in progress in Clarendon Road.

It is alleged that the domestic worker who was at t home at that time,along with a two-year-old child, were made to lie on the kitchen floor whilst the armed men ransacked the premises making off with various electronic equipment as well as a large safe, which was reported to contain a large amount of jewellery. The armed suspects fled in a grey motor vehicle in an unknown direction and suspects remain at large.

“The domestic worker and child did not suffer any physical injury however were left severely traumatized ”, said Marshall security’s, Kyle Van Reenen.

The scene was later handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.

Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, confirmed that today,  at 10:30am, six unknown gunmen accosted an employee in the absence of the homeowner on  Clarendon Road, Parkhill. They allegedly tied up the employee and suspects ransacked the  household , escaping with various valuables. They fled in their getaway vehicle and no injuries were sustained. A case of house robbery was opened at Greenwood Park police station and is under investigation. No arrest has been made at this stage.
