It’s do or die for Bafana Bafana in the Afcon qualifiers this weekend. South Africa must win their last 2 group matches if they are to have any chance of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations next year.
Shakes Mashaba’s play away against Gambia on Saturday 4 June. Mashaba’s men have not won a single match in four outings in Group B They lie third on three points after playing to three draws and a loss. As things stand in Group B Cameroon are top on 8 points, Mauritania are 1 point shy in second on 7 points, South Africa trail the Mauritanians by 4 points in 3rd Gambia are rock bottom on 2 points with just the two draws to really brag about.
Realistically, their fate is now no longer in their hands, but they have to ensure wins in their meetings otherwise they can forget about the ticket to Gabon. Saturdays encounter between Gambia and South Africa will kick-off at 7pm.
