DURBAN – Supporters watching the 2016 Comrades Marathon along the Nedbank Green Mile in Kloof said the comraderie was their favourite aspect about the proudly South African day.
Rogers and Laura Gounden said they came out for the “atmosphere and comraderie” while Sinovuyo Sithole lit up as the runners skipped past saying “the runners faces” were her favourite thing.
Sarah Van Heerden and Ghita Howard were in he sunshine loving “the vibe” of the contagious Comrades atmosphere. “Its just the atmosphere and the comraderie,” said Howard.
Nonhlanhla Thusini and Patricia Gwala had gotten up at the crack of dawn to travel from their home in Wyebank to enjoy Comrades from the sidelines of the Nedbank Greenmile. “Its more fun here, we love bringing our children to have fun and play,” said Thusini.
Avid Comrades supporter, Joy Sidloyi-Msizi all the way from Cape Town was full of beans saying her favourite thing about the marathon was “just to see those big muscles!”
Also travelling from far was Dr Tsholofelo Sekete down from Johannesburg to support her brother Kabelo. “Who knows,maybe next time we’ll join him,” said Sekete.
