CHATSWORTH – A 51-year-old granny appeared before the Chatsworth Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of drugs on Friday, February 17.
Rookmoney Poonsamy Nattar (51) was found guilty and granted bail of R 3000-00.
This arrest was made by members of SAPS Chatsworth Drug Squad on Friday, who were conducting crime prevention operations at the Westcliff area of Chatsworth when they received information about drugs in the area.
The members proceeded to an identified place at Pirrip Street, Westcliff, where a total of 160 capsules of heroine, 60 mandrax tablets and 60 pieces of cocaine were found to the street value of approximately R15000-00.
Nattar was immediately placed under arrest and charged accordingly whilst drugs seized were forwarded for forensic analysis.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa commends the members for the swift arrest and the seizure of exhibits. “The members will continue with their operations in the area to clean the streets of Chatsworth and the surrounding areas. Together we can stand united to curb illegal drug activity and continue to eradicate the scourge of drugs that is infiltrating our community,” he said.
