Motorists should brace themselves for yet another increase in the price of petrol which will take effect from midnight on tuesday.
According to the Department of Energy, the price of unleaded 93 petrol will increase by 99c, unleaded 95 by R1 and diesel soaring to an increase of R1.24 per litre.
Illuminating paraffin will cost an additional R1.04 and liquefied petroleum gas R1.79. The petrol price for October is reportedly the highest month-on-month rise in our history. The department has attributed the spike in petrol prices to the rise in global international oil prices and the consistent depreciation of the Rand.
