A 16 year old boy is missing after being swept out to sea, whilst swimming at Blythedale Beach situated on the Dolphin Coast, in KwaZulu Natal.
The scholar was swimming this afternoon (Monday) when he got into difficulty and was swept out from shore. According to IPSS Medical Rescue, operations manager Paul Herbst’s said, “An off duty police officer noticed the swimmer in difficulty and altered IPSS Medical Rescue, as well as KDM Fire & Rescue.”
The IPSS water rescue division, together with KDM lifeguards, responded to the beach and initiated an extensive search added Herbst’s. The search was suspended with negative results, due to poor light. The Lifeguards on scene have already closed the beach and the necessary warning flags were displayed.
The search will resume tomorrow morning (Tuesday). No further updates at the time of publication.
