DURBAN – This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic.

The oldest road classic cycling race in South Africa, is said to be one of the most picturesque and challenging routes from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, KZN will be held on the 16 October.the classic will begin at PMB City hall and finish at Suncoast Durban.

Cyclists can choose between the following races, according to their own fitness levels:
For the cyclists that wants to “Just ride for fun” there is the 35km race,the Half-way challenge, is a 65km race and then there is the renowned 106km Classic, which is not for the faint hearted.

Even though the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic is regarded as an important event on the cycling calendar, for competitive cyclists, it has transformed into an event that allows social cyclist to also compete in one of the three races (35km, 65km and 106km). Entries are open to anyone with a bicycle!

A bit of History on the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic,it all started in 1986 and ever sinc this amazing race has been successfully taking place for the last 30 years. This makes the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic SA’s oldest ‘classic’ cycling race. It was Veteran Springbok cyclist, Dave Wiseman and his friend, Tony McMillian’s dream to have a bicycle race on the world famous Comrades Marathon’s route and over the years this race has become one of the most loved KZN cycling races.

The route for the 106km, 65km and 35km road races will be completely closed to traffic.

R103 Patna Road – Kassier Road/M13 on ramp-4:30am–1:45pm
M13 Hillcrest – M13 Westville-4:15am–2:45pm
M13 Westville – M13 45th Cutting-4:15am–2:45pm
N3 Outbound – Monty Naiker Street-5am–15:15pm
Monty Naiker Street (Pine Street)-4am–3:30pm
Masabalala Yengwa Ave (North Bound)-4am–4pm
Battery Beach Road (Bound)-4am-4pm
Suncoast Boulevard (North Bound from Battery Beach Circle to Blue Waters)4am-4pm
