CATO MANOR – Twenty five children of various ages have been transported to hospital after a tear gas cylinder was sprayed in classrooms by one of the students at a Cato Manor School in Candella Road this morning.
Rescue Care and EMRS Paramedics arrived on the scene to find multiple children crying and in distress due to the effects of tear gas such as burning eyes and burning of the sinuses. More ambulances were called to assist with the number of patients that had been affected. All of the injured were stabilized on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.
SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
