DURBAN CENTRAL – Rescue Care Paramedics and Durban Fire Department were called to the McDonalds Food outlet on Old Fort Road in Durban CBD at 7:30am this morning for a fire.
On arrival paramedics and fire fighters found the kitchen area ablaze. Rescue Care Paramedics treated numerous patients who complained of smoke inhalation whilst multiple fireman worked together to extinguish the blaze. The blaze was finally put out around 8am. A total of nine patients were stabilised on the scene by Rescue Care Paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required. A further five patients were then treated in scene and were transported to hospital.
Atthis stage it is unclear how the Fire started however SAPS and Durban Fire Officials were on scene and will be investigating further.
